    Dear Mr. _______,

I am writing today as one of your constituents to express my disbelief and disappointment over the action taken by Mr. Trudeau and the federal government against legal firearm owners.

As a lifelong target shooter, shooting sports enthusiast, legal firearm owner and individual affected by the recent action, I strongly feel that the use of an order-in-council ban is an egregious overstepping of the legislative process, and that the action taken will be completely ineffective in combating crime and gun violence in Canada. It is widely documented that the overwhelming majority of firearms used in crime are smuggled into the country illegally and used by criminals who do not abide by the law. Legal firearm owners in Canada are among the most thoroughly vetted individuals and are statistically less likely than other residents of Canada to commit crime. This order-in-council action unfairly targets the legal firearm owner community in what appears to be an attempt to show false progress on combating crime and simultaneously fails to address the issue of criminal gun violence.

I believe that bypassing the legislative process via an order-in-council action is extraordinarily undemocratic and reinforces my confidence in my decision to not vote Liberal in federal elections.

I implore you to consider the facts, consider the results of Petition e-2341 and encourage Mr. Trudeau and his cabinet to rethink this misstep.

    Yours sincerely,

The Board is looking to form the following committees.  Please email info@scrgc.ca if you can volunteer even a few hours of your time.

If we do not get any volunteers for the Clubhouse Maintenance, we will have to hire contractors which may result in an increase in annual dues.  There must be some people in the club with skills to help and keep our dues down.

Clubhouse and Indoor Range Committee: To coordinate maintenance and cleanup of the clubhouse. We currenty have ZERO volunteers for this work.

    Current Issues needing immediate attention

    • Need lightbulbs need replaced in range and bathroom
    • Rodent issue needs to be addressed
    • Kitchen and storage rooms need cleaning
    • Office and filing cabinets need organized
    • Hole in kitchen floor needs repairing
    • Stove and dishwasher could use replacing

Range Maintenance Committee: To coordinate regular maintenance and repairs of outdoor ranges.

Range Policies Committee:  To standardize range use procedures and improve signage.

Range Officer Program Committee: To establish a formal SCRGC Range Officer Program and coordinate training.

Fundraising Committee: To coordinate fundraising ideas to keep membership dues down. Ideas suggested include:

    • T-Shirts (with sponsors hopefully ready for sale by the December meat shoot)
    • Renting out clubhouse
    • Axe throwing pit
    • 50 / 50 draw or raffle

Water and Fire Suppression Committee: To liaise with Chapman Creek Hatchery on the well proposal and to determine options and requirements for fire suppression at the shotgun range.

Axe Pit Construction Committee: Design and build axe throwing pit area at lower range. Do you have any axe throwing experience?

The September 21 work party went well, about a dozen people showed up. The 300 m was raised up and rebuilt and the multipurpose pit was cleaned up.   Thank you to everyone that came out.

A yellow coroplast backstop for shotgun only has been added to the multipurpose pit. The four 2x4’s on top of it can be used to hang plastic jugs. Please remove them when finished and take out along with any other targets.

Due to issues with lead management this is the ONLY spot authorized to shoot shotgun at the Pinecone range. Do NOT shoot shotgun anywhere else in the multipurpose pit or the 300 metre range.

Additional firing line flags and a first aid kit have been added to the multipurpose use pit.
